Burnt Toast (2025)

Combining machine learning, analogue technologies, archival materials, and a trained impersonator, Burnt Toast is a contemporary ghost story which resurrects comedian Tommy Cooper. He recites memories and anecdotes, as the work asks us to question how hidden structures like class and capitalism can shape our lives.

Chainmail 4 - Silent Knight (2025)

Amartey Golding is a British artist whose practice explores themes of masculinity, nationhood, violence and vulnerability. Since 2023, Amartey has been working with groups of imprisoned men at HMP Altcourse in Fazakerley to make a suit of armour, creating the latest piece in his ongoing Chainmail series.

Life Forever (2026)

In Life Forever, Vytas invites us into an absurd ‘jellyfish wellness spa’, where jellyfish float inside a tank warmed by cryptominers - machines that use computer power to generate cryptocurrency, and produce significant heat. In a video, the spa’s host, Lola, prepares visitors for a treatment that raises questions about our values, desires and pleasure-seeking lifestyles in the face of the climate crisis.

Padded Cell (2026)

In this new work, Livi looks at how the intuitive user interfaces and friendly ‘padded cell’ graphic designs pioneered by Kai Krause in the 1990s have been co-opted by those wanting us glued to the web for capitalist gain. Her work references a time when digital spaces were becoming user-friendly, colourful and easily accessible.

(darkforest) The Zone of Ghosts (2026)

Sahjan Kooner creates expansive, speculative worlds that question the technological, social and racialised structures shaping our daily lives. Guided by the belief that imagination is our most important form of technology, this new exhibition invites us into a world created in collaboration with young people aged 12-19 from Liverpool and Leigh.
