What health and safety measures has FACT put into place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19?

To help us protect you, we are:

  • Displaying clear signage inside and outside of the building to encourage social distancing.
  • Introducing a one-way system to help you get around the building with plenty of space.
  • Installing hand sanitising stations on each floor of the building for all to use. We are also asking all visitors to sanitise their hands as soon as they enter the building.
  • Ensuring sanitising hand soap is provided in all of our toilets. We have also reduced the number of toilet cubicles, sinks and hand dryers to promote social distancing.
  • Frequently cleaning high contact points such as toilets, handrails, lifts and doors.
  • Limiting capacity in all spaces (galleries, cinema screens etc)
  • Encouraging contactless payment methods where possible.
  • Placing extra members of our team throughout the building, at a distance, to help guide you and answer any questions you may have.
  • Please do not enter FACT if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms: High temperature, New, continuous cough, Loss or change to your sense of smell or taste. For advice and more information go to, visit the NHS website.

Where are the toilets?

The toilets can be located on the ground and first floor of the building. Certain cubicles, urinals and sinks have been closed in each area to allow social distancing to take place while using the facilities.

Can I wash my hands or use hand sanitiser during my visit?

Dedicated sanitising stations will be located around the building in addition to the hand washing facilities in the toilets.

  • We will be monitoring the number of visitors and limiting capacity in each of the galleries to ensure there is plenty of space for you to visit. Find out more about the current exhibition by visiting What’s On.
  • We kindly ask that you follow the one-way system throughout the galleries, giving priority to those with access needs and use the floor markers to adhere to the social distancing measures.
  • We have introduced free audio guides for all artworks and exhibition texts which can be accessed through any mobile phone by scanning the QR codes in the gallery.
  • We have adapted the exhibition to remove any high contact points.
