Discover two major exhibitions by Jenkin van Zyl & Uma Breakdown. ‘Surrender’ invites us into Jenkin's psychotropic film-world centred around an endurance dance marathon, and the cryptid lore of the "rat king". Embark on a journey through the gothic genre and its relationship to horror, intimacy of care and technology in Uma's exhibition, ‘Earth A.D. 2’. Free entry.
We asked exhibiting artists Jenkin van Zyl and Uma Breakdown to guest curate a film season that unpacks the pop culture references found in their immersive installations. From John Carpenter's post-apocalyptic cult action sequel 'Escape from L.A.' to Gaspar Noe's psychedelic cinematic dance party 'Climax' — discover the films that have influenced both artists' work.
As part of our ongoing Curatorial Development Programme, supported by the John Ellerman Foundation, we're inviting applications for both a Curatorial Assistant and a Curator in Residence. Residency holders will become valued contributors, leading on research and aiding in the delivery of exhibitions and events programmes. Deadline: Wed 29 Nov.
This December, we are programming a film season that amplifies Palestinian voices with all ticket proceeds donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians. FACT believes absolutely in the protection of human life and human rights. We condemn the violence that has been inflicted in recent weeks and we call for an immediate ceasefire to end hostilities against all civilians and work towards a peaceful resolution. This film season’s aim is to help to spread awareness, educate and inspire.
