We are looking to expand our pool of Freelance Technicians, with a specific focus on those specialising in AV. Freelance technicians work with us on our exhibition installations in the galleries, and across public programme events in the cinemas, foyer areas, and across the public realm.

What to expect

Working mainly within FACT’s Exhibitions Team, Freelance Technicians work with us to deliver an ambitious programme of contemporary visual art. Standard gallery installations run Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. We may invite applicants to an informal meet and greet and tour of the spaces.

Things we are looking for

• Demonstrable knowledge of AV disciplines (audio, projection, video, IT, lighting)
• Strong interest in working with artists/creatives
• Understanding of signal flow in multichannel audio and video installations
• Working knowledge of video formats and standards as well as post-production video and image preparation
• It would also be great to know of any relevant qualifications (e.g. IPAF or PASMA)

Please note that we welcome applications from technicians who may not have experience or knowledge in everything listed above - if you have experience in one or two of these key areas, or you’re keen to gain new skills, we would love to hear from you.
