FACT’s new online journal is an open-access contemporary art journal that delves into FACT’s artistic programme with essays, images and perspectives from curators, artists and scholars.

This issue brings together texts by curators, artists, scholars and participants who were integral to FACT’s Radical Ancestry Programme, a cultural inquiry and artistic programme spanning from 2021 to 2023. Radical Ancestry explored how we construct our personal identity and sense of belonging through our understanding of ancestry and inheritance, as well as how technology can open up new spaces where different forms of cultural identity may flourish.

The Journal forms part of the series of resources generated by the programme, which includes a series of podcasts with participating artists Yarli Allison and Boedi Widjaja, Youngsook Choi and Taey Iohe of Breakwater, and Larry Achiampong and David Blandy.
