Imagine living on our closest celestial neighbour?
Seven international artists are declaring a Republic of the Moon with us in this new exhibition.
Weaving together fact, imagination and storytelling, the artworks offer alternative visions of lunar life: a remote lunar habitat for mythical “moon geese”, an immersive encounter with the smell of the moon, DIY astrobiology experiments and the tale of a man who met the moon (and stayed with her for the rest of his life).
Who will be the first colonisers of the Moon? Perhaps it should be the artists.
Curated by FACT and Arts Catalyst, Republic of the Moon includes major new commissions by Agnes Meyer-Brandis and WE COLONISED THE MOON, and works by Leonid Tishkov, Andy Gracie, Liliane Lijn and Sharon Houkema.
