FACT is proud to be a welcoming space for everyone, including our transgender community. Whether you're attending an event, exploring an exhibition, watching a film, or simply spending time with us, we're committed to ensuring that all visitors feel safe, respected, and truly at home. Following recent developments, we want to make it extra clear: you belong here, and we've got your back.
Here’s how we are taking action:
- We ask everyone who visits or works with us to:
- Respect everyone’s identities, names, and pronouns.
- Listen, encourage open-mindedness, and allow everyone to express themselves.
- Uphold our zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, bigotry, hatred, and violence. No level of transphobia or homophobia is acceptable.
- We are upgrading our ground floor toilets to be gender-neutral, making our facilities more inclusive and accessible for everyone.
- We are proud to partner with Homotopia and artist Sophie Green on a campaign to visibly support trans women in public and creative spaces. As part of this project, we are displaying and distributing Sophie’s bold new artwork and encouraging arts venues, businesses, and community spaces to display inclusive signage in solidarity.
- We continue to share our Safer Conversations Guide with attendees before all events, helping to set expectations and create a welcoming atmosphere both offline and online.
- We are committed to listening, learning, and improving, engaging with our communities and partners to ensure our policies, spaces, programme, and actions remain inclusive and supportive.
We know that cultivating a welcoming, safe, and creative space helps us all to grow. Together, we can build a better and more inclusive world—one rooted in respect, dignity, and solidarity.
