Directed by Ang Lee (Life of Pi, Brokeback Mountain) and starring Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Tang Wei, and Joan Chen, Lust, Caution is set against the backdrop of World War II. The film follows the story of Wang Jiazhi, a young woman who becomes entangled in a dangerous game of emotional intrigue with the powerful political figure Mr. Yee. The narrative unfolds in Hong Kong in 1938 and Shanghai in 1942, a period marked by the occupation of the city by the Imperial Japanese Army and the rule of the puppet government. A group of students from The University of Hong Kong plot to assassinate Mr. Yee, a high-ranking special agent and recruiter for the puppet government, by luring him into the abyss of passion.
