Booking Required — £7

Designed as a focused, bite-sized session, this workshop offers a glimpse into the world of spatial audio. You’ll get an introduction to the history and key developments of spatial sound, as well as how the technology can be used as a narrative tool. Stick around for a relaxed Q&A with speakers, followed by an opportunity to tinker with audio hardware and learn more about the foundational mechanics behind 3D sound routing and spatial placement.

No prior spatial audio experience is needed - just bring your interest in sound and experimentation!

IKLECTIK

IKLECTIK is one of the few grassroots organisations in the UK developing work with multi-channel and three-dimensional audio systems, which enables artists to compose in space, not just stereo; move sound through and around audiences; and explore listening as a physical and emotional experience.

Sound, for them, is not background. It is architecture. It is the environment. It is something you step inside.

IKLECTIK's technology is custom made. They know their equipment is rare — so they give artists the chance to learn and play with their immersive sound systems through residencies and training programmes. Giving artists the chance to develop practices they otherwise wouldn’t be able to access.
