LESEAN in collaboration with Movema presents a full day of free events to mark the first new moon and the first day of spring in the lunar calendar, celebrated in parts of East and South East Asia. From a Lion Dance and Martial Arts display to a movement workshop, lantern making, and more—there are plenty of activities for all ages to enjoy.

Chinese Lion Dance & Martial Arts Display

LESEAN has invited China Spirit UK to perform a Chinese Lion Dance and Martial Arts Display at FACT!
In Chinese Culture, the Lion Dance is a traditional form of costumed performance intended to bring good luck and fortune to the area and those in attendance. The performance will take place in the foyer.
Moving with the Moon

Join Pei Yee Tong of LESEAN and Movema for a group workshop using gentle movement practices from parts of East and South East Asia. Introducing elements of Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and traditional Malaysian and Chinese dance, Pei invites you to cultivate positive energy for the year ahead.

GIF Celebration

Artist b3.png brings back her project from 2022 in which she invited people from all over the world to submit GIFs in celebration of Lunar New Year. The GIFs will be presented on the screens in our foyer space until the end of the Lunar New Year period.
Wishing Tree & Calligraphy Display

Throughout the Lunar New Year period, LESEAN will place a wishing tree at FACT! The tree was created by LESEAN Founder, Sufea Mohamed Noor, and will be adorned by outcomes of the celebratory workshops held at FACT.
