Hand drawn animation, Me and The Black Dog, explores the tradition of understanding mental ill health using storytelling, metaphor and narrative as opposed to interpretations around chemical imbalance or medical disorder.

Using cultural references in British folklore to ‘the black dog’ as a symbol of melancholy or death, the work investigates the idea that the dark element of one’s personality isn’t necessarily something that needs to be eradicated using drugs or therapies.
