Feel My Desire (2025)

Text-based video game.

Feel My Desire is a text-based game centred on the power of words and the personal mythology of the professional wrestling world. Within wrestling, so much emphasis is placed on being the best, the highest paid, the champion. To achieve this position requires not only physical strength but also unwavering mental fortitude and self-belief. Wrestlers aren’t just fighters; they’re conjurers, manifesting identities through slogans, catchphrases, and mantras.

Feel My Desire encourages players to embrace this concept of personal myth-making by offering them the chance to create their own character. Focusing less on the physical requirements, and more on actualising personal desires, James’ work provides a nuanced look at the elaborate character creation necessary for professional wrestlers, one that goes beyond the hyper-masculine façade.

Players aren’t bound by the typical image of a pro-wrestler; instead, player’s characters can be mythic, eccentric, or surreal. Each new wrestler is the product of the player’s imagination and desires, embodying what they envision and the feelings of power and pride that come with that.
