Mathilde Chartier

Mathilde (She/Her) is a director based in Liverpool. Originally from France, Mathilde’s passion for filmmaking began at age 11, when directing a music video starring family members.

She went on to earn a BFA in Directing in Paris, and then moved to Los Angeles where she studied producing at UCLA Extension. After her studies she worked in development for a boutique production company, with which she got to travel extensively, attending film festivals as part of her role. She has now directed 3 short films, ‘Remember That I Love You’, ‘Understanding You’ and her latest, ‘What a Night!’, which was based in Los Angeles where she pulled together a small crew on a tight budget to develop the project.

A true jack of all trades, Mathilde has worked across producing, editing and camera operating. This hands on experience has strengthened her ability to lead teams and deliver ambitious projects. She is currently directing a documentary in collaboration with Liverpool John Moores University, exploring the rare cancer Pseudomyxoma Peritonei and the role of exercise in recovery.
