Yuri, 16, has lived all his life in Gagarin Towers, a vast red-brick housing project on the outskirts of Paris. He dreams of becoming an astronaut. When plans to demolish Gagarin Towers leak out, Yuri joins the resistance. With his friends Diana and Houssam, he embarks on a mission to save their home, which has become his “starship.”

This film will be preceded by Black Boys Can Swim, directed by Khaleb Brooks.

About Cinema in The City

Set at the historic Lewis's Building, Cinema in The City returns this Autumn, with a weekend of contemporary films about community activism alongside shorts from local filmmakers.

Cinema fans will enjoy the unique opportunity to experience screenings in the centre of Liverpool, inside one of the cities most iconic Grade II listed buildings with food and drink provided by Squash, a community organisation, rooted and home-grown on Windsor Street in Toxteth.

Cinema in The City at Lewis's Building runs from Fri 12 - Sun 14 Nov. Entrance via Renshaw St, L3 5SB. Screenings will take place on the 3rd Floor which is accessible via lift.

Seating is unreserved. Each attendee will have their own individual seat. Feel free to bring your own cushion.
