Runtime: 80 mins

Searching for steady work, Charlie Banks (Nate Hardman) views his chronic unemployment as a kind of spiritual trial. While his wife, Andais (Kaycee Moore), works to support their family of five with dignity.

Billy Woodberry’s film distils the social concerns and aesthetics of that trailblazing movement in African American cinema. Named to the National Film Registry, the film is a key masterpiece of L.A Rebellion - the black independent-cinema renaissance that emerged from UCLA’s film school.
