The (new) Constellation was founded in 2017 by artists Agnes Varnai and Tina Kult, who joined us back in 2022 as part of their EMAP European Media Artist-in-Residence Exchange. They live and work in Vienna and experiment with a wide range of media, including virtual reality, 3D, installation, sculpture and film. Their research focuses on creating immersive experiences that connect the digital and physical realms of different realities.

During their time in Liverpool, the residents worked on Retraining Laziness (2023), a video series produced in collaboration with sound artist M T Hall. The video series follows a conversation between a human worker and a malfunctioning robot as they discuss unhealthy production conditions and their own relationship to work and time.

As part of our 20th birthday celebrations this October, the residents return to Liverpool to present behind-the-scenes content from their commission. The screenings will take place in Studio/Lab, our new dedicated space for artists to experiment and develop their practice. Additionally, Agnes and Tina will make a special costumed appearance!

Join us to discover more about the processes they use to make their artwork, and maybe get some creative inspiration for your own.

This special free event is part of our birthday celebrations, marking 20 years since FACT opened its doors in 2003. Come and celebrate with us on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 October as we look back at two decades of unforgettable moments, and look forward to what the future holds for us, you and our growing community of artists.
