Project Art Works Collaboration

  • 15 October 2012 - 17 October 2012

Fittingly staged during Liverpool Biennal 2012 which is themed around hospitality, FACT will be hosting a series of bespoke workshops designed and delivered by the Project Art Works team. This encounter is the third in a series of collaborations between Project Art Works and national art galleries in the UK including MK Gallery, Milton Keynes (2010 - 2012) and Camden Art Centre (2012).

Over recent months, Project Art Works has undertaken a process of mapping the social care sector in Liverpool and Merseyside, and in collaboration with FACT has invited a number of neurologically diverse groups to collaborate with them and the FACT team on three days of dynamic and connected workshops between 15 - 17  October. The workshop environment and productions will include film, sound and installation alongside more traditional practices such as painting and drawing as the basis for shared, creative investigations.

Prior to these workshops, Project Art Works will be running three days of training for the FACT team kindly hosted by FACT and the Thingwall Resource Centre, sharing knowledge of the social care sector, neurodiversity and working practically through inclusive and collaborative workshops.

The project is a unique opportunity and inspirational learning event for all participating groups. Beyond the quality of the work produced and experienced, the longer-term aim of Project Art Works is for the collaboration to act as a catalyst for establishing relationships between mainstream galleries and often-marginalised people in our society.

This project is funded by ACE and Contemporary Visual Art Network, South East
