Ghostbusters: Who you Gonna Call?
30 years on from its original release, Ghostbusters returns to the big screen for one night only!
11 November 2014
We’re incredibly excited to have one of our favourite films back where it belongs for a special one off screening.
Ghostbusters is celebrating it’s 30th birthday this week so Picturehouse at FACT are bringing it back to the cinema this Thursday at 8.30pm.
Starring Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson, Ghostbusters is still one of the greatest and funniest movies ever made with Empire Magazine calling it ‘As entertaining today as it ever was, a classic to be treasured by all.’
Whether you’ve seen it 100’s of time or if you have somehow never seen it before, Ghostbusters is an undisputed classic. Everyone’s favourite actor Bill Murray is on top form with Film4 saying that it’s ‘stuffed with wisecracking, punning and essential deadpanning care of the film's most notable star performer Murray (who has such delivery down as a fine art)’
Hadley Freeman in The Guardian writes that much of the film’s success is due to the real life friendship of the film’s leads, director and writers. You can see Akroyd visibly holding back laughs as Murray ad-libs and deadpans through the movie.
Surprisingly, the film was never meant to be a comedy, with Akroyd’s first draft of the script being a serious drama about spiritualism but ‘Director Ivan Reitman thankfully convinced him to turn it into a comedy’
Luckily the stars aligned and with Murray, Akroyd, Ramis and Hudson in the starring roles we have one of the best and most timeless comedy films ever made.
Ghostbusters is showing on Thursday 13 November at 8.30pm. Tickets are available now from the Box Office, by phone on 0871 902 5737 and online.
