The Liverpool Architectural Society was founded in 1848, making it one of the oldest architectural societies in the world. Remaining independent for almost 140 years, in 1987 it merged with the Merseyside branch of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Whilst most of its members are chartered architects, the society also welcomes people who have an interest in architecture to join. Events, such as visits to local buildings, lectures and seminars are organised throughout the year; and traditionally there’s a weekend away to look at buildings in a major European city.
