Develop superhuman hearing, create the world’s most annoying room and transform your family into digital avatars using a 3D scanner, in our free family workshops: Do Something Saturdays.

Bookings
Selected Saturdays — Free
No booking required. Do Something Saturdays are completely free and you can drop by anytime between 12:00 and 15:00, on 12 July, 9 August and 13 September 2025.
Located in our new Studio/Lab space on the top floor, these sessions encourage imagination and innovation in a friendly environment. Whether your child is a budding game designer, artist or simply curious about technology, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
12 JULY: EXPERIMENTAL MICROPHONES
Discover new ways to capture hidden sounds around FACT, using contact, underwater, and electromagnetic microphones; then create your own sound mixes inspired by the soundtrack to Amartey Golding's Silent Knight, an exhibition on display until 10 August inside Gallery 2.
9 AUGUST: CREATING 3D SCENES FOR VIRTUAL REALITY
Create the most annoying room in the world and put your grown ups in it! Will your room have seagull poo and car park meters like artist Kara Chin's artwork? You can also explore Kara's interactive installation as part of Liverpool Biennial until 14 September!
13 SEPTEMBER: EXPLORING 3D SCANNING
Learn to use the Studio/Lab digital scanner device! Create lifelike digital avatars of yourself and your family or bring important family objects to scan and share digitally.
Getting here
When you arrive at FACT, please let a member of our Front of House team know that you're here for Do Something Saturdays. They'll accompany you to the lift and help you enter the code that will whisk you up to the third floor of the building, where you'll find Studio/Lab.
