Coggie is 14 and at a crossroads in his life. For a while now, he and Ste have been friends, but there’s something not right about their friendship. Coggie’s sister and mum beg him to stay away from Ste – they know he’s trouble.
But Coggie thinks he knows best and that he can keep Ste from the worst of his possible actions. Besides, Coggie is afraid of another kid and needs Ste for protection. When a prank goes wrong and the boys get into trouble with the police, Coggie starts to realise he is getting out of his depth. And when Coggie refuses to try out Ste’s hunting knife, a new line is drawn between the boys, and a deeper, darker tension takes over.
