After his wife runs away following the alarming news that an asteroid is on a collision course with Earth, Dodge (Carell, THE 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN) decides to embark on a cross-country road trip to reunite with his childhood sweetheart. Tagging along for the ride is his British neighbour, Penny (Knightley, ATONEMENT), who turns out to be more of a hindrance to Dodge's spontaneous plan than he had accounted for.
