2Mhealy Last Man 2011 Still From Hdvideo

Wednesday 1 October / 6.30pm / FREE

Moving images of transport, transit and telecommunications infrastructure (airports, bridges, ports, stations, waterways and motorways) are everywhere in contemporary art, yet rarely considered together. This talk and screening programme takes a closer look at transit and transport infrastructure in artists' video since the mid 2000s. Featuring artworks shot in Ireland, England and Wales, including a number of projects that originated as site-responsive public commissions, it marks the beginning of a new research project by Maeve Connolly, exploring transformations in the artistic imagination of transport and telecommunications since the 1970s. The programme includes works by Jenny Brady, Rhona Byrne, Michael Fortune, Martin Healy, Dennis McNulty and Niamh O'Malley, and many of the artists will be present for the screening and discussion.

Presented at FACT Liverpool by the LAB Gallery Dublin in parnership with Create Ireland and iadt.
