Liverpool LightNight 2017

Friday 19 May / 5pm - 11pm / Throughout FACT and Ropewalks Square / FREE, drop-in

Join FACT this LightNight as we host a series of performances and activities around our exhibition exploring post-truth politics, How much of this is fiction., open until 10pm. Alongside this, Alexandra Morton will present political puppetry workshops and performances for both children and adults throughout the evening.

This LightNight, FACT is also hosting three Artist/Maker/Hackers in Residence in partnership with British Council Indonesia. With works in progress focusing on the political, economic, environmental and cultural aspects of water, this is your chance to test their prototypes and input into the works they will present at FACT.

We will also host Light Field, a collaboration between artists Bill Thompson and Saffy Setohy. An evolving, inter-related constellation of people, light, sound and movement within a playful off-grid environment, Light Field invites people to both become and activate the installation through simple instructions, which generate an emergent choreography of elements.

Chila Kumari Burman will also present Dada and the Punjabi Princess, an abstract, figurative moving image piece challenging stereotypes of Asian women in Britain. The film is a moving collage of traditional Indian dance, kaleidoscopic landscapes, polemical text, and social and political media. Confrontational and celebratory, Dada and the Punjabi Princess is a fusion of Punk, Pop art and Bollywood for the Digital age.”
