Girl Geek Academy is back!
26 September, 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 October, 7, 14 November / 6-8pm / FACT / FREE (application applies)
Liverpool Girl Geeks are pleased to announce that the next 8 week Academy programme at FACT will commence on 26th of September. Following two successful iterations of the programme, covering web development and music technology, this time the theme will be Maker Academy.
Led by Laura Pullig of Tactile Electronics, over the 8 week period girls aged 13 to 17 who have an interest in technology will be encouraged and inspired by getting hands on and creating innovative wearable technology, along with meeting like-minded girls and women from industry.
The maker academy will provide an introduction to maker culture and an opportunity to learn new tools for creativity. We will explore cutting-edge technology and physical making, from digital fabrication such as 3d printing and laser cutting through to e-textiles.
We will look at using coding to link physical items to digital, using technology such as Raspberry Pi and Arduino. We will be inspired by how these technologies have been used to solve real world problems.
We have just 15 spaces available, and applications will close on the 8th September
