Named in the 10 most influential women in the BBC Woman's Hour power list 2014, Dido is the current Chief Executive of the TalkTalk Group, the leading provider of value broadband, TV, landline and mobile services in the UK, not to mention the sponsor of The X Factor!
Oxford and Harvard educated, Dido began her career in marketing before joining Sir Terry Leahy’s team at Tesco. She went on to lead the convenience store network at Sainsburys, before joining TalkTalk in 2010. The company serves over 4 million consumer and business customers in the UK and with offices in Manchester and Warrington, is one of the leading technology employers in the North West.
Under Dido’s leadership, TalkTalk has been a leading advocate of improving Britain’s digital skills. As a founding partner of the digital skills charity Go ON, TalkTalk is currently helping to a lead a campaign across the North West to give businesses and consumers the skills they need to get online.
An amateur jockey, Dido owns the racehorse Cool Dawn, the winner of the 1998 Gold Cup and the subject of her first book.
In her question and answer session with FACT Director Mike Stubbs, she will discuss the importance of digital skills to businesses and economic growth, TalkTalk’s role in the drive to tackle digital exclusion and how local universities, colleges and businesses can work together to make the North West a leading digital cluster.
