Wednesday 15 July / 10.30am - 11.30am / The Box / FREE, booking required
FACT and CERN invite you to be one of the first to find out the winner of this year’s COLLIDE International Award, a major international artist residency opportunity and new collaboration framework between CERN, the renowned European Organisation for Nuclear Research in Geneva, and FACT, the UK’s leading media arts centre.
At this informal event you will have the chance to meet members of the jury as they announce the winning artist, and join the discussion about how they will challenge the way art and science encounters are understood, and engage with Liverpool and its communities.
COLLIDE International Award grants one artist a fully funded residency to spend two months at CERN in Geneva, followed by a one-month stay at FACT in Liverpool. The competition was open to artists of any nationality and age, whose work reflects on the cultural and social understanding of science and advanced knowledge.
COLLIDE’s jury consists of Mónica Bello, Head of Arts@CERN, Geneva (Switzerland); Mike Stubbs, Director at FACT and Professor at Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool (United Kingdom); Rosa Ferré, Head of Exhibitions at CCCB, Barcelona (Spain); Patrick Gyger, Director of Le Lieu Unique, Nantes (France); and Tara Shears, Physicist at LHCb, CERN, Geneva (Switzerland) and at University of Liverpool (United Kingdom).
10.40am - 11.10am: Presentations by Mike Stubbs (FACT and LJMU), Mónica Bello (Arts@CERN), and Tara Shears (CERN and University of Liverpool)
11.10am - 11.30am: Q&A
