In Czechoslovakia in 1982, the grip of the country’s totalitarian regime seems at its most unshakeable. Awkward, bitter Antonín, a member of the secret police, is seething with unvoiced anger and desperation. Finding an outlet for his obsessive tendencies in Klára, the young, flame-haired mistress of a writer he has long been observing, Antonín is determined to claim her as his prize. But his misguided attempt to win Klára sets Antonín on a collision course not only with the regime’s traditional enemies, but also with his own people, and with the system itself. A thrilling Cold War crime noir reminiscent of THE LIVES OF OTHERS, WALKING TOO FAST is the tale of a rebellion that is not political, but purely personal and wholly savage.
