The National Gallery, London, is offering a major exhibition of one of the most startling and fascinating artists of all, Johannes Vermeer.
The exhibition focuses on his art in relation to music, which was one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and revealed an enormous amount about the sitters and their society.
New research, revealed for the first time at this exhibition, has also uncovered how Vermeer’s technique and materials affected his works.
Our event film goes beyond the exhibition to tell the entire story of Vermeer’s life and work, including the much-loved painting The Girl with a Pearl Earring.
The show time given is the curtain-up time; doors open 15 minutes earlier.
