Andy Gracie - Drosphilia Titanus

Titan, the largest moon of Saturn, has an atmosphere and is of interest to scientists as it is the most 'Earth-like' place that we know of. Andy Gracie's astrobiological experiment combines artistic metaphor and scientific rigour to take the first steps in the breeding of a new strain of fruit fly (Drosophila) that could theoretically survive on Titan. The prototype for the Drosophila Titanus project was developed in collaboration with Kuaishen Auson, Janine Fenton and Meredith Walsh, as part of Laboratory Life, devised by Andy Gracie and co-commissioned by The Arts Catalyst and Lighthouse, supported by Wellcome Trust.
