- Part of...Persistence of Vision
- Gallery 2
This image of the female model Lena Soderberg became highly popular with digital image researchers in the 1970's. Originally scanned from a magazine, it has since been used for thousands of image compression tests and publications, becoming an industry standard in the computing and printing worlds. Having been used to develop formats such as JPEG and GIF which are commonly used today to store and circulate digital images, Jamie Allen repeatedly exposes the female's image to the algorithms she unwittingly helped develop, causing its gradual deterioration.
