Ilene Segalove: Why I Got Into TV and Other Stories

Daytime, Gallery 1

A self-described "child of Beverly Hills", Segalove began pointing the camera at 'familiar things', producing quasidocumentaries about her family in the early '70s. In this work, Segalove pursues her self-analysis via the popular culture and TV addiction of her youth: seeing JFK shot on TV, falling in love with the TV repairman, being glued to the screen whilst ill, and associating the memory of watching her parents kiss with the soundtrack of Dragnet.
