A flag disclosing the honest words, “I want an iPhone 7+ in jet black” by Thomas Barton will fly on a six metre pole outside the main entrance of his school and another will fly above the streets from the newly restored, grand Victorian Old Courts building in Wigan. Thomas' bold handwriting is placed on a bright red & black, marble ink pattern for his peers, teachers and wider community to enjoy.
This flag will also fly from FACT’s building in Liverpool from 10-30 June.
“I can’t believe my words are going up onto a flag and becoming art! It’s all right!! (Meaning good). People will wonder why it’s up there and ask questions. I don’t know what they will think, but I will make my friends see it in all the places, because they might be surprised. Other people might think I am selfish when they read it or they might agree with me and want one too. But I really do want one more than ever! It is great that people will see it high above the town of Wigan. I can’t believe that it will fly on a huge pole at my school and on the top of an art building in Liverpool!”
Words by Thomas Barton, aged 15 from Leigh.
