- Part of...MyWar, Participation in an Age of War
- Media Lounge
Humans at War is an interdisciplinary project in which students, many of whom are young children, were asked to find someone in the local community who holds a personal experience of war, and ask them to describe a particular scene that they have witnessed, whether dramatic or banal. Following this, the pupils were asked to make a drawing from their recollections, working collaboratively with the people whose memories they were depicting, to ensure that the results accurately reflected the experiences. By removing the mediated boundaries traditionally synonymous with war stories, Fletcher's concept offers participants an entry point into narratives, and memories in a highly personal and sincere form.
With Karen Green, Anna Kronenberg, Louise Latter, Carla McManus and other local collaborators.
