Jamie Gledhill, a digital artist who creates work that is public, participatory and playful brings his project play table to FACTLab this summer.
Charting the area between art and game, play table is an exciting, multi-participant, audiovisual ‘work-in-progress’ that Jamie is developing iteratively through a programme of public events.
At its heart, play table features an interactive video image projected from above onto a large horizontal surface. Participants are invited to manipulate virtual objects from the edge of the surface, and by doing so, create unique audiovisual results.
During his residency at FACT, Gledhill will test specific mechanics of social interaction through the medium of ‘art gaming.’ Above all else, the project is an exploration of playfulness and the power of play. Members of the public and arts practitioners are invited to try out the latest iteration of this work and offer feedback.
Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
