Candice Jacobs

Candice Jacobs’ exhibition environment for Follow consists of repeated patterns that explore ideas of consumerism, the “ultimate feminine aesthetic” and symbols of seduction, aspiration and desire.

Reflective materials, neon, shorthand motifs, television game show aesthetics, and digital replicas of marble fill the gallery spaces. These seemingly luxurious materials, repeated patterns and hidden messages divert attention away from others and back to your self. Based in Nottingham, Candice Jacobs’ artistic practice explores the meaninglessness of aspiration within affective labour and cognitive capital frameworks.
