Nearby in FACT's Atrium, Ghana Think Tank (from 2008) is a globally distributed network of think tanks creating strategies to resolve local problems. Created by Christopher Robbins, Matey Odonkor and John Ewing, the project asks visitors to submit their local problems which will be given to think tanks in Ghana, Cuba, El Salvador, Serbia, Mexico and Ethiopia to solve.
The artists work with local residents and the problem's owners to enact and document solutions provided. While the obvious role reversal - think tanks typically originate in richer Western countries to solve the problems of others - is an amusing thought, it also provides surprising, if sometimes simple, insights from the challenge of a different cultural perspective.
