YANG Zhenzhong's work Let's Puff! (2002) is a two-screen video projection, shot on the Nanjing Road in Shanghai city. Shanghai is China's largest economy and trade centre and Nanjing, known as China's No. 1 street, is 5km long, attracting some one million shoppers per day.

This work emerges from YANG's pursuit of 'pointless time' reflected in his digital photographic seriesLight and Easy (2002), which show him juggling buildings in the palm of his hand. Here the artist synchronises sequential blowing and pauses for breath by a young Chinese girl with a fast/slow/fast/slow movement along the road. The girl's increasing exhaustion seems to mimic the increasing speed of consumption and our persistant attempts to keep ahead.
