Chip Lord is an artist and co-founder of the renowned counter-cultural media collective, Ant Farm [1968-1978]. Merging social observation with satirical humour, Chip Lord's video and photography work focuses on American myths and icons, from the cult of the automobile to baseball, advertising, suburbia and television. To Lord, collective identity and everyday life are defined by the consumer-based, media-driven culture of the post-war American Dream. Ant Farm created memorable performance events including Cadillac Ranch (1974), Media Burn (1975), and The Eternal FrameĀ (1975, with T.R. Uthco), tearing up the media landscape with works that critiqued America's media and political cultures through parody and spectacle.
