The Persistence of Vision exhibition opens today

FACT's new exhibition exploring perception and memory opens today and runs until the end of August
FACT's new exhibition, Persistence of Vision, opens to the public today, exploring the relationship between vision, memory and media. The show brings together the work of nine contemporary artists who have repurposed image technologies, such as cameras, slide projectors, magnifying glasses and mirrors, to review and re-imagine how our memories are stored and revived.

Featured works include Julian von Bismarck's 'The Space Beyond Me' - a highlight from this year's Berlin Transmediale Festival, Mizuki Watanabe's 'In-Between Gaze' - which explores our awareness of time and presence, Lindsay Seers' 'It has to be this way - Part 1' looking at how cinema and photography shape our memories, Gebhard Sengmüller's 'Erasure Coils' photo series and a new commission from AVPD based on the Danish duo's previous work, 'Stalker'.

As part of Persistence of Vision, FACT is inviting you to test your memory and perception skills in our special Exploratory Laboratory. The Family-Friendly area is a place to discover what kind of memory you have, test your mental agility and then compare your score with other visitors, your family and friends.

Persistence of Vision runs in the Galleries and Public Spaces at FACT until Sunday 30 August and is accompanied by a public programme of related events and screenings.
