Inspired by this year's theme of 'Hospitality', the 12 weeks of
screenings will include previews, premieres, Q&As, performances
and film forums. This public programme launches on 13 of September
with a free
talk by three of the artists exhibiting at FACT this year, Anja
Kirschner, David Panos and Jemima Wyman.
Highlights include a European Preview of LA-based artist, Wu
Tsang's award-winning film, The
Wildness. The film takes us on a journey into Los
Angeles's Silver Platter -the first transsexual friendly club night
in LA's Hispanic neighbourhoods. Wu Tsang will join us for a post
screening Q&A before presenting a major premiere of the work at
Tate Modern.
Other highlights include, Amanda Gutierrez's Time Topographies - a performance
exploring Liverpool's migrant communities, as well as the UK
premiere of Matt's Wolf's new film I
Remember, which is about the late artist Joe Brainard
entitled.
Laurel Nakadate's The Wolf Knife tells the story of a
teenage girl and her best friend fleeing their dull, boring,
humdrum lives in Florida and attempting to get back to her father
in Nashville, Tennessee. On their road trip, their innocence is
challenged. Will they ever be the same again? The Wolf
Knife is presented as part of a doublle bill evening alongside
Steve McQueen's Shame.
FACT will host the North West premiere and Q&A for
Polish-American artist Allan Sekula's new film with Noiel Burch ,
The
Forgotten Space. The film highlights the everyday people,
from underpaid truck drivers in LA to Filipino maids in China,
whose role in society often goes completely unnoticed and
unappreciated.
Continuing until 21 November, FACT will play host to artists such
as Matt Wolf, Al & Al, and Karen Mirza and Brad Butler who will
all be present alongside screenings of their work for
Q&A's.
