The work of Pedro Reyes has already proved a big hit with
Biennial visitors. His artwork Melodrama and Other Games
was named as a festival highlight by Culture24, as well as being a favourite of the
infamous art critic Adrian Searle, who described in his Guardian column how he had enjoyed "playing a
sexed-up version of snakes and ladders with the Mexican cultural
attaché, while small children milled about, whacking each other in
a pillow fight".
Pedro was also one of the Liverpool Echo's top ten picks for the
Biennial.
The Digital Aesthetic project went on Twitter to
say they greatly recommended seeing Ultimate Substance by
Anja Kirschner and David Panos, which they said was "truly
captivating"; and the international media is also recognising the
importance of our work from Akram Zaatari, one of the Middle East's
foremost filmmakers and photographers.
People of all ages, from school classes to community groups have
been taking part in weaving workshops to continue to create Jemima
Wyman's hula hoop weavings, which you can see hanging in the main
public space.
