The Dark Knight Rises has to be one of the most anticipated releases of the Summer. Although we are missing out on our usual 00:01 screenings (on director Christopher Nolan's instruction - he didn't want to UK to see it before NYC) we are jumping right on the Batman bandwagon, screening nearly 300 minutes of the superhero tonight on the big screen.
The Double Bill at 6.15pm will kick off with Batman Begins - the first of Nolan's reboots of the Batman franchise released in 2005. Bruce Wayne is angry - his millionaire parents have been killed. He takes solitude with a Ninja in the East but on his return to Gotham City, he is greeted by a rundown cityscape overrun by the bad guys. Helpfully, he makes a discovery of a cave under his mansion fully equipped with an armoured suit just asking to be used by a "super hero". Where did the "bat" idea come from? Well Bruce fell into a bat filled well as a child... rendering him forever traumatised with a bit of an obsession for the flying rodents.
Following straight on will be The Dark Knight. Things are going well in Gotham City, Batman has been beating the bad guys and returning the place back to normal. That was until The Joker unleashes his own brand of calculated chaos across the city - people will die every day until Batman reveals his true identity. Instead of being seen at the cities golden guy, this time things go wrong and Gotham points their fingers at Batman accusing him of hideous crimes. The Dark Knight must go into hiding before he can rise again.
