Wow, what a brilliant film. Directed by Lenny Abrahamson, Room is a definite Oscar winner in my opinion. With outstanding performances and a great job by the director, the film is heartwarming, full of surprises and is a story with many morals.

After being locked away for seven years, Joy (Brie Larson) and her young son Jack (Jacob Tremblay) attempt what they thought to be the impossible - escape. An evil man named Nick provides them with heat, water and essentials but obviously wants something for himself in return.

Their whole life has been spent in a single room - all day and all night - so Jack has never had a lot of space, or seen the outside world. Having been missing for so many years, Joy has no idea where her family are and they know nothing about her either.

The writing is excellent, although some scenes I found disturbing to watch. This film makes you grateful for the place you live, and for the luxury of open spaces and nature. It also makes you grateful for the relationships that you make, especially for your grandparents and the everyday people who are nice to you.

This film is an overall triumph and one of the best I have ever watched, so I would highly recommend it to people who love imagination and the true brilliance of watching films at the cinema. And remember the next door you open could be the the start to a whole new adventure....
