Over the past few weeks, we've played host to around 300 children (not all at once!) visiting FACT on school trips. We've been giving them a tour of the Build Your Own
exhibition and talking about making things using technology and craft. The 3D printers and Raspberry Pis have gone down particularly well!
We have also been facilitating workshops in FACTLab, which have been developed to have a focus on the Key Stage 2 Design and Technology Curriculum. Children have been working in small groups to create their own cities out of recycled materials. Selecting and experimenting with materials, each group has created a building they think is essential to any city. They've come up with a huge range of creative models like the technology museum and pancake factory pictured!
These trips have been successful for schools and our learning programme, and I'm looking forward to exploring the upcoming exhibition in September with even more schools.
Build Your Own: Tools for Sharing and FACTLab are open Tuesday - Sundat at FACT until 31 August. FACTLab and its' events are supported by the Culture Programme of the European Union and Connecting Cities
