It’s Humans vs. Apes from Thursday at Picturehouse at FACT
The second instalment of the Planet of the Apes franchise bursts into cinemas this week!
16 July 2014
Following on from 2011’s The Rise of the Planet of the Apes, the movie kicks off with a band of genetically modified apes, led by Caesar, living in the woods after Simian Flu destroyed populations around the world and caused almost the complete collapse of human civilization.
As one group of humans, who have developed an immunity to the virus, attempt to bond with the apes and develop a truce, Dreyfus (played by Gary Oldman) remains distrustful of the animals and inadvertently triggers an all out war between the species.
With Andy Serkis, Hollywood’s go to man for any and all animals, monsters and magical creatures, returning as Caesar, the movie is a fitting follow up to the surprisingly enjoyable 2011 film.
In an interview with MTV, Serkis describes the movie as ‘an emotional journey seen through the eyes of Caesar’ as he attempts to keep control of the civilisation he has found himself in charge of.
Critics have described the film as the ‘most engrossing, the smartest and the most daring "Apes" movie ever put on film’, ‘dynamite entertainment’ and ‘delivers on its promise and leaves us wanting more’.
The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes opens tomorrow at Picturehouse at FACT in 2D and 3D. Tickets are available now from the Box Office, by phone on 08719025737 and online.
