Qwop Dance

Light Night celebrates Liverpool’s incredible museums, galleries and world-class heritage sites. On Friday 16 May, the city will be full of unique performances, projections, exhibitions, walks workshops and much more!

At FACT, we’re keeping our exhibition Science Fiction: New Death open until 11pm and hosting special events for all the family. Everything is completely free and no booking is required!

The Costumologists return with their Cyborg Laboratory workshop. Create low-fi cybernetic body parts by recycling redundant technology and LED lights, perfect for showing off around our gallery.

Taking place on our first floor, The 2014 Manchester School of Art Zine Fair is a collaboration between students in art history, design, illustration, interactive arts and textiles at Manchester Metropolitan University. The students will be selling their work from 4pm – 10pm.

SYNDROME is a lab and events programme created by Mercy, in partnership with Hive, which explores interaction and affect in new media performance. For Light Night, they will be hosting two events at FACT. QWOP Dance will transform Ropewalks Square outside of FACT into a digital control panel and light show. Computer interface, digital image, human body and choreography are drawn into a beautiful maelstrom of system error.

Me/asurement uses our Tilo screens to reimagine the 19th century pseudoscience of 'phrenology'.  Inspired by biometrics, data mining and current surveillance techniques, Tom Schofield's live interactive artwork 'reads' you - making assumptions about your personality based solely on digital measurements of your head.

For more information on everything we’ve got going on, visit the What’s On section of the site. The Light Night website has full details of the entire programme from across the city.
