The National Theatre’s War Horse: Encore screening announced
14 October 2013
“The theatrical event of the decade” makes it long awaited debut as part of the National Theatre’s incredible NT Live series on 27 February 2014, and sold out within hours of going on sale. We’re very happy to announce an additional ‘encore’ screening on Tuesday 11 March at 12pm.
Opening at The National on 17 October 2007, War Horse is the story of Albert, his foal Joey and their enduring friendship. Joey is sold to the cavalry as World War 1 breaks out and so Albert begins a long and dangerous journey to protect his friend and bring him back to England after the war ends.
When the idea was first proposed of creating a stage version of Michael Morpurgo’s best selling 1982 book, he is quoted as saying ‘they must be mad’. Using some of the most sophisticated and visually stunning puppets ever created, War Horse has been an international hit ever since it opened.
Directed by Nick Stafford, with South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company creating the puppets, War Horse has proved to be enduringly popular with audiences of all ages. There are now 5 versions of the play running around the world!
This production comes from London’s West End and the New London Theatre where over 1 million people have seen the show during its 4-year run. The Live screening sold out incredibly quickly and we’re expecting this performances to be just as popular so make sure to buy your tickets as soon as you can!
Tickets for the encore performance are available now from the Box Office, by phone on 0871 902 5737 and online.
