This autumn WNO explores a world in which some of the most gripping episodes in British history are re-interpreted through the exquisitely beautiful music of Donizetti. Plotting courtiers with hidden agendas, future queens waiting in the wings, kings for whom a no is not an answer… it’s hard to imagine a better subject for the drama and spectacle of opera than The Tudors. The three operas, Anna Bolena, Maria Stuarda and Roberto Devereux, will be performed from 23 to 25 October on consecutive nights at Liverpool Empire Theatre. Watch the trailer here.

WNO is also performing Puccini’s passionate and dramatic masterpiece Tosca. Floria Tosca stands in shock, clutching a dagger in her bloodstained hands. An hour before she was singing hymns in church. How did she come to this? Tosca is performed at Liverpool Empire Theatre on 22 and 26 October. Click here for the trailer.
