26 September 2013

On Thursday 3 October, our new exhibition from artist and filmmaker Mark Boulos will be opening to the public for the first time alongside this year's AND Festival.

We will be premiering Echo, an ambitious new immersive video installation in which you will encounter a ghostly ‘reflection’ of yourself – that moves and speaks as you do in real time. As you continue to observe your doppelgänger, time is desynchronized and spatial perspective is distorted and broken.

Alongside Echo we will be showing three of Mark’s video and documentary works which look at communism, natural resources, guerrilla war, idealism, terrorism and psychoanalysis.

The galleries open at 6pm for the first chance to experience Echo and the exhibition. The opening event is supported by Liverpool Organic Brewery who will be providing complimentary refreshments all evening.

Abandon Normal Devices festival returns to Liverpool this year and features some of the most exciting names in new cinema, digital culture and art. From 6pm – 8pm, throughout FACT, you will get the first look at SEFT-1, the rail/road/river vehicle created by Los Ferronautas, performance lectures from Michelle Elsworth, the public showcase of Marshmallow Laser Feast’s New Cinema Lab and much more!

After the galleries close at 8pm, you’ve got an hour to make it over to Static Gallery for AND’s official (and free!) opening party, The Cloud. Like a backroom Speakeasy trading in an era where it is anonymity, not alcohol, that is prohibited, The Cloud will provide you with refuge from the instruments of intelligence interception.
